Film Portfolio Mni Wiconi - Water is Life We lined up the caravans, packed with volunteers from all over the land. Each transport including a medic, radio, and photographer. We were given eye protection and bandannas for tear gas. Everyone sat quietly looking down as we drove off, you could feel the nervousness because we all knew what we were getting ourselves into. I look up to say "Hey, it's a Good Day to Die." We all looked at each other and nodded, Now we're ready. The beating of drums and war chants sent us off. When we reached our site, together locking arms as one we marched forward as they tried to break our line. The combined stratagems halted construction that day. So we got orders to rendezvous with the rest of the march at the Capitol to make our Stand. The water protectors eventually were confronted with riot lines. Many people from across the country locked arms in a square formation and protected the Elders and Children. Everything stopped as both sides awaited orders while the president was making a press conference. Only the smoke from sage moved in the streets, there was silence now here and across the country as everything we did was blocked out by media. Time froze for a moment as everyone looked down and prayed as the Elders one by one spoke through microphone forgiving white men of all trespasses against their peoples. Only to ask for the protection of our most valuable resource Water Not for us but for our children. Stand With Standing Rock
